Make It or Break It: What Would Buffy Do?
Gentle readers, we need your opinion on the following scenario, as depicted on the most recent episode of ABC Family's Make It or Break It gymnastics drama.
Some thugs, of the vaguely threatening semi-rapist variety, encounter a group of pretty girl gymnasts at a gas station. The thugs make with the intimidation and insults. ("Pretty princess" is a slam, right?) What does the modern, empowered, young female athlete do in response?
Press play on the video clip above to see how the girls coped, and then help us decide: Is this the absolute silliest artificial TV response ever, or is it just exactly how Buffy Summers would handle situation?
Photo Gallery: TV's Most Memorable Vampires
There's no denying it. Vampires are hot.
Fan fangs are sharp, and audiences are out for blood. Forget the garlic and the holy water, we relish the thought of Bill (Stephen Moyer, True Blood) or Damon (Ian Somerhalder, Vampire Diaries) taking a bite out of us. Even Buffy would put down her wooden stake for these vampire hotties.
But lest we forget, vamps have been making our blood boil for decades. (You vampire die-hards may remember Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins in the '60s classic Dark Shadows.)

Fix This Show: 90210 Needs Your Help
We've received your emails, comments and tweets complaining about how certain shows are not living up to their potential. Because it's the holiday weekend, and because you fans are very adamant about wanting to change these particular shows, we're giving you a chance to sound off on what you would change about the CW's 90210. (Look for another Fix This Show post later this weekend.)
So, what exactly do you fans say is wrong with 90210, and what can be done to fix it? Here's what you've told us so far:
Celebrity Addictionary: There Oughta Be a Word
You love the cast. You love the look of the show. The concept rocks and it's entertaining. But the writing? Eh, not so much.
We think there oughta be a word for those shows that have all the makings of success except for the pesky little fact that the scripts simply stink. We would name a few here as examples, but we don't want any show runners coming after us. Oh, OK, you twisted our arms. We'll cite one: CSI: N.Y. (Please don't hate us!)
We've come up with this word: unscriptacular. Can you do better than that? We think you can. Hit the Celebrity Addictionary below and show us what you got.
SYTYCD Results Show: Cat Deeley, Still Adorable
Is it just us, or have all of the So You Think You Can Dance eliminations this season been perfectly righteous and reasonable? We haven't yet had to face the elimination of a really wonderful dancer (Melissa Sandvig) or a totally endearing personality (Evan Kasprzak). All in all, this season has been pretty copacetic, and tonight brought no change to that standard...
Fair warning: If you're just dying to be shocked and stunned by the Top 14 elimination results and haven't yet hooked up with your DVR, don't click in, dummy!
Memorable Moments
- The SYTYCD costumers and makeup stylists outdid themselves with the Cirque du Soleil-esque looks for the group number. What a wonderful Wiz it was!
- Caitlin Kinney's look of sincere astonishment when she was not in danger? That was the facial expression of the night.
- Special guests Desmond Richardson and Patricia Hachey are beyond dance. Desmond, especially, is like a human tangram—familiar shapes or elements are mixed and matched into an infinity of interesting silhouettes.
- Stay awesome, Kelly Clarkson.
- We feel a smidge repetitive for saying this constantly, but we notice it every single week: Cat Deeley has got to be the prettiest, nicest, most professional, charming, sincere and generally wonderful host in television. Tonight's adorableness was topped off by the tousled hairstyle. Accidental or on purpose, it looked great.
Bottom Six
The bottom-six couples were Jeanine & Philip, Kayla & Kupono, and Karla & Vitolio.
Cat Deeley agrees with us that Philip Chbeeb should be in the bottom group more often just so that we can see his solo work. Nigel Lythgoe was just talking crazy when he said that Philip was trying too hard.
In other dance-for-their-life news, Kupono's solo just seemed silly, even thought it was attached to a lovely, lyrical Israel Kamakawiwo'ole song.
Which technically excellent, choreographically coherent and generally pretty solo was best: Jeanine's this week or Caitlin's last week? Discuss.
Farewells
In the end it was Karla and Vitolio who went home. Maybe it was the familiar SYTYCD quickstep qwisis, but we believe that Nigel summarized Karla and Vitolio's woes rightly. Karla was largely blameless, but simply didn't pop enough, personality-wise, and Vitolio had a magnificent, leonine presence, but he just didn't have technique to back it up.
In case you missed it last night, Cat Deeley's complete interview with Katie Holmes about the new Dizzy Feet Foundation is posted above. Who else is happy to hear Katie's confident tone on the topic of singin' and dancin'?
Everybody Needs to Start Watching Sons of Anarchy
You know who has fantastic frakking taste in television? Me, myself, I, Jennifer Godwin. Therefore, when I tell you that my second-favorite show on all of TV after Lost is Sons of Anarchy, you should take that business seriously. Anyway, I know this is not my personal blog where I can post TV whateverness willy-nilly, but my extreme passion for SOA overwhelms whatever responsible sensibilities I might pretend have, so this brand spanking new SOA promo is going up, if for no other reason than that new SOA footage is one of the few joyful goings-on in TV-land right now.

Gossip Girl Father Fodder: Who Should Play Papa van der Woodsen?

When last we saw our favorite Upper East Siders on Gossip Girl, Serena van der Woodsen was heading to Fiji to find her dear old dad.
The mystery man who fathered the blond bombshell and her brother, Eric, has never really been mentioned—only as an aside in tales of their mom's various husbands and escapades—but it seems likely that he might finally become a living, breathing presence on the show next year.
So with all the other exciting casting announcements this week (Hilary Duff, Joanna Garcia), we got to wondering who might score the paternal part. We exclusively chatted up the van der Woodsen kids themselves, Blake Lively and Connor Paolo, and you'll never guess who they think should fill their papa's shoes...
American Idol Record Deals: What's Up With the Others?
So far, American Idol winner Kris Allen, runner-up Adam Lambert and fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta have all inked recording contracts. But what about the others?
We caught up with the top 10 at their tour rehearsals recently to check in on the status of their post-Idol plans. And here's what they have to report...

The End of Friday Night Lights Isn't a Bad Thing
For the fans who worked really hard to keep Friday Night Lights on the air, don't fret. The announcement of the series ending after two more seasons isn't necessarily set in stone.
FNL star Connie Britton recently went public in saying that the original two-season pickup would likely be the end of the show. However, Connie told us, "You never know, if it does do really, really well, maybe they would go on for more seasons."
So what do the possible final seasons hold for the Taylors and the rest of Dillon?
SYTYCD Top 14 Meet Aliens, Broadway, Classical Ballet ...and Katie Holmes
So here's the skinny on the Katie Holmes stuff:
In announcing the establishment of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, an effort to provide scholarship opportunities for underprivileged dancers, Nigel Lythgoe was tickled to also announce that Holmes will be taking the stage for So You Think You Can Dance's 100th episode.
The actress (who's in on the foundation with Lythgoe, Carrie Ann Inaba and Adam Shankman) will be dancing in a Tyce Diorio-choreographed tribute to Judy Garland on July 23 and donating her entire appearance fee to Dizzy Feet.
And as for the dancers not yet married to movie stars...
The voters have their work cut out for them, because most of the Top 14 really tore it up tonight—and a few season-five favorites may be in trouble.
But before Caitlin tried to mate with Jason, and Phillip got chained to Jeanine, and Ade scaled Melissa's balcony...Mia Michaels made Brandon cry.
The Bachelorette: Jake Spills More Dirt on Wes & Laurel Speaks Out
"Shall God strike me down with lighting if I am mistaken or he did not tell me that," former Bachelorette contestant Jake Pavelka told reporters this morning about his claims that fellow contestant Wes Hayden has a girlfriend.
For those coming in on this late, here's what's happening. On Monday night's episode (check out Trista Sutter's blog about it here), Jake returned to the show with the sole purpose of telling bachelorette Jillian Harris that Wes confided in him that he has a girlfriend. Jillian confronted Wes about it, in front of Jake, and Wes denied it. In the end, Jillian chose to believe Wes over Jake. And now all hell's broken loose.
Today, Wes' accuser speaks out and reveals more details to reporters about exactly what the Austin-based musician, who has been accused of being on the show to promote his new CD, told him. Meanwhile, the alleged girlfriend, Laurel Kagay, is setting the record straight on her own. Check out the drama…
Eureka! Syfy's Smartest Show Is Back on the Map
Eureka returns—finally!—to Syfy with 10 new episodes on July 10.
Breaching the security of Global Dynamics, star Colin Ferguson (Eureka Sheriff Jack Carter) and executive producer and cocreator Jaime Paglia answered some your burning Q's about America's smartest (and most secretive) small town.
Mariska in Muncie, Ind.: I am so excited for 10 all-new episodes of Eureka! Who will be the new big bad?
Says exec producer Paglia, "We wanted it to be something different, and to tie into a historical aspect of our characters and the town on a personal level. So instead of it being necessarily a person, it's a thing. We don't know what it is. The question is, is it from out there? Is it man-made? But it's coming toward Eureka, and we have to deal with it. And that allows us to bring in some new characters."
