Gone are the days of One Tree Hill's Leyton (btw, we were always more of a Brucas fan). But now that the series has been rescued from the dredges of cancellation hell, will the wonder couple return?

We went straight to the source to find out—or rather the first castmember we ran into, but still a vitally important part of OTH and a man we hope to see alive and kickin' next season, Mr. Robert Buckley. Here's what he tells us:

"I'm not ruling anything out," he says with a little grin. "Knowing the way Mark Schwahn works…that guy is always pulling stuff out of his hat. Anything can happen." OK, but you're talking about the same dude who was responsible for you and your lady friend getting gunned down in cold blood! How can you trust him?

"I was shot in the face!" Robert yells incredulously. "I'm kidding, I wasn't shot in the face. It's gonna be a chest wound." Oh. Because chest wounds never kill off characters. Hello?! Uncle Keith and Jimmy Edwards circa season three! We rest our case. "It takes a lot more to keep Clay down than just one bullet from a stalker," he says in the manliest voice possible.

But before anyone can get too confident about Clayton's return, he reminds us that One Tree Hill is not afraid to play with crazy storylines. "We've done a lot of work with ghosts in our show," he says. "But I think it's safe to say that Clay will be coming back. I hope I'm not giving too much away by saying that," Robert adds nervously. Too late! It's up and out there, Buckster. We'll see you for season eight.

What say you, watchers? Want to see Lucas and Peyton come back to Tree Hill for a visit? Or are they better off in, um...wherever they are? Let loose in the comments, and stay tuned for more CW Upfront scoop, including Vampire Diaries and Smallville!
