Pink and red together? How unexpected...and very Valentine's Day of Natalie Portman. But we say the babe is glowing in this preggers-friendly, empire-waist Viktor & Rolf gown with rose detail, matching clutch and Tiffany jewels. It's the actress's night to shine—on the red carpet and onstage—and she pulled it off.
Breaking news: Angelina Jolie is not wearing black! After some seriously dark and depressing round of movie promotions, the actress is back in stunning, sparkling emerald green (courtesy of Atelier Versace). Angie's worn this style plenty of times—though this one has a more vintage feel—but she always owns it, like she's a wicked queen ruling the red carpet, and we have to give her kudos for that.
Uh-oh, red carpet darling Lea Michele just made her first major awards-show blunder. The Glee starlet is kind of a hot mess in this bubble-gum-pink Oscar de la Renta gown that's overly fussy with all the ruffles and folds, topped off with an equally messy side 'do. Oh well, all the great fashionistas have to fail sometime, right?
Well, this is a somber look for the Desperate Housewives star. Obviously, Eva Longoria's hit a bit of a rough patch in her personal life, but she's also been one who's never met a bedazzled gown she didn't love. So while this Zac Posen dress hugs her curves in all the right places, we can't help but miss cheerful, colorful Eva. Never thought we'd say that...
Whoa! Did we somehow get transported back to the '90s? We remember when Sandra Bullock rocked this ‘do back during her Speed days, which was fine then but doesn't fly when you're a fancy Oscar winner. And now we're too distracted by those bangs to focus on the Jenny Packham dress. Anyone else feeling a bit nostalgic for last awards season when Sandy was perfectly polished?
Dayum, girl! January Jones is all about the sex in this jaw-dropping Versace number! Now, with a dress like this (you know, one that is basically topless), the line between classy and crass is a hard one to walk. But the Mad Men star tames the sexiness with classic hair and subtle jewelry. Well played, Miss Jones!
This blush Armani Privé gown was custom-made for Megan Fox, so we really want to be blown away by it, but unfortunately it's just not happening. The Brian Atwood heels and Roger Vivier clutch are pretty, but the color of the dress is so blah and the details aren't that interesting. Looks like the actress isn't feeling it, either.
Now this is how it's done! Anne Hathaway looks stunning in this Giorgio Armani Privé gown. Yeah, there's some Dynasty action going on with the sparkles and big shoulders, but the future Oscar host is working it and she glows. This is why we love red carpets!
We can usually count on Jennifer Lopez to bring some fierce divaliciousness, especially lately given all her American Idol appearances. So we're at a loss as to what to say about this Zuhair Murad gown. With all the silk chiffon draping and the sheer tulle capelet, it actually comes off kinda matronly, a word that has never applied to anything J.Lo-related! We must have entered an alternate universe. That explains everything.
Oh Helena Bonham Carter, don't look like such a grump. While everyone else is off wearing normal, pretty gowns, the King's Speech actress just keeps on doing her and we love her for it. Of course the Vivienne Westwood dress on its own would have been cuckoo enough, but she ups the crazy by wearing two mismatched shoes. So why doesn't she look like she's having more fun?!
All right, Michelle Williams! We have long found your quirky retro-inspired style irresistibly adorable, but enough is enough. What was once cute and charming has now become almost costumey. And it's not the Mia Farrow hair and makeup's fault. Nope, it's all that daisy-printed Valentino dress, which is not only too casual for the event, but also ill-fitting and a blah color. We know you have it in you to wow us!
Newly divorced Scarlett Johansson isn't sending out the "single and ready to mingle" vibe in this embeliished Elie Saab gown, that's for sure. It's a pretty dress, but the flutter sleeves make it look way too matronly for this gorgeous actress. And the Bride of Frankenstein hair further cements her "please don't talk to me" look for the night.
Um, did Halle Berry get her awards shows mixed up?! Her sexy Nina Ricci bustier dress with tulle train and funky cuffs looks more suited for a show like the Grammys, not an elegant and glamorous evening at the Golden Globes. And even then we still wouldn't be wild about this tacky, trying-too-hard style. Too bad—Halle's a red carpet pro and she let us down big-time.
Seeing Nicole Kidman in this simple, single-shoulder Prada gown really makes us wish for those days long ago when she used to bring the glamour to the red carpet. Now she's in a vanilla piece with a little bow, almost no jewelry and uninspiring hair. It's not the worst out there, but it's certainly not what Nic is capable of. Sigh.
See, it's not that hard to become just another anonymous starlet. Just throw on some self-tanner, dye that hair blond, wear a classically beautiful Calvin Klein dress and we won't be able to tell a hot young, up-and-coming actress from Lindsay Lohan or Kate Bosworth. But yes, it is indeed Emma Stone! The Hollywood movie star transformation is complete—for better or worse.
Mad Men's leading ladies Christina Hendricks and January Jones both rocked vibrant red gowns! (Apparently, Elisabeth Moss didn't get the memo.) If it were a battle over who wore more red, then Christina's Romona Keveza gown with cherry lips and hair would obvs take the win. But she'd lose in the overall look category because that big shoulder is ruffle overkill. We just want to detangle her poor locks and straighten it out.
