Russell Armstrong's final scene was a sad one.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills regular hanged himself with an electrical extension cord, according to the death certificate released today by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

L.A. Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey had previously told E! News that Armstrong was dead for at least 24 hours before his body was discovered, but the listed date of death remains Aug. 15 with the notation "FND," meaning that's the night on which he was found dead.

Rumors have been flying as to who first discovered Armstrong's body at a friend's Mullholland Drive home, what his wife Taylor Armstrong did when she found out, etc., but authorities have kept those details close to the vest.

The certificate reconfirms that his death was "self-inflicted."

Armstrong was memorialized by Taylor and a number of friends, including fellow Real Housewives stars, at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills last Wednesday. His family planned to transport his remains back to Texas for a second service.
