Prepare for domination.
The CW is staging an epic four-way crossover event with its superhero line-up this season, with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow joining forces for the first time. And now, we know exactly which bid bad(s) they'll be taking on together in the four-night event in December: DC Comics' Dominators.
"This year, for our mega 'Arrowverse' crossover, we're taking inspiration from a DC crossover from the late 1980s known as Invasion!, which featured an alien race called the Dominators, who'd previously vexed the Legion of Superheroes," Arrow & DC's Legends of Tomorrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement.
Fans can expect to see the shows use "cutting edge prosthetics and computer effects to achieve a feature film-quality look which is faithful to Invasion! artist Todd McFarlane's interpretation of the characters," Guggenheim said.
In the DC Comics Universe, the Dominators (also known collectively as the Dominion) are an alien race from the outer cosmos, that appeared in 1989's Invasion!, a limited crossover event that brought together plotlines from DC series such as Justice League International, Legion of Super-Heroes and Omega Men.
In the comics, the Dominators were calculating, emotionless and were technologically advanced.
Fans were treated to a small tease for Arrow's episode of the epic crossover event, with star Stephen Amell tweeting a photo of Deathstroke, while Guggenheim posted a photo from the table-read that included Jamey Sheridan, who played Oliver's deceased father, Robert Queen, in the pilot. "Flashpoint. No flashbacks," Guggenheim teased. It also looks like Katie Cassidy will be returning for the outing, which also happens to be Arrow's 100th episode, after (spoiler alert!) her's character Laurel's tragic death at the end of last season.
The four-way, four-night crossover event with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow is set to air in December on the CW.
