Just one day after news broke that Simon Cowell is expecting his first child with (former?) pal Andrew Silverman's wife, New York City socialite Lauren Silverman, photos of the trio have emerged, seemingly painting a picture of Simon and Laura's budding romance.
Talk about a whole new meaning to the saying three's a crowd.
The telling photos were taken in January 2012, when the real estate mogul, his wife and Cowell vacationed together in the Caribbean, enjoying a new year's getaway in St. Barts on the music mogul's luxury yacht.
While some of the shots appear innocent, there are also images which feature the now expectant parents showing very subtle signs of affection towards one another.
In one photo, Lauren appears to lovingly rub her fingers through the X Factor judge's hair as the pair lay out on the yacht together.
In another pic, the two cuddle in close to look at an image on Cowell's phone before Andrew joins the duo on deck, where the trio later appears tension-free as they enjoy the view and dine together.
The tender moment seemingly foreshadows Cowell and Silverman relationship, which began about six months ago, a source tells E! News. The soon-to-be-mother is reportedly around 10 weeks along.
"He was friends with Lauren and her husband but things developed between them," the source explains. "Lauren and her husband had a messy split and Simon became a shoulder to cry on for her."
The pair was even photographed house-hunting together in October, long before Lauren became pregnant. The insider adds Simon "really likes" the brunette beauty and is "very fond" of his baby mama.
"Lauren has been special to him...He never really wanted kids but these things happen," the source says. "Simon and Lauren have amazing chemistry."
Andrew Silverman filed for divorce from his wife on July 23 and has reportedly cited adultery in the divorce papers.
According to the New York Post, The wealthy real estate developer also names Simon as co-respondent, meaning Cowell could be called to the stand as a witness to describe in detail his relationship with the pregnant brunette.
Cowell was spotted for the first time today since news of the baby mama drama broke. He declined to comment as he left The X Factor studios in Los Angeles, as the paps snapped pics and congratulated the father-to-be, who appeared stoic and pulled together, despite the current pregnancy scandal.
While Simon has stayed mum, Lauren Silverman's mother Carole Eisenberg has spoken out in the wake of the controversy, telling E! News her daughter is a "wonderful girl and a wonderful mother."
"All I can say is her marriage had been on the rocks for some time," she confirmed.
