Alec Baldwin will not be jumping into NBC's late-night lineup.

At least not anytime soon.

A source tells E! News that he and the network are no longer exploring the possibility of him joining the network's late night roster.

"His name was mentioned as a possibility, but there were never any negotiations," the source said.

The New York Times reported yesterday that talks between the actor and the network had started, but a source insisted to us that there was "nothing close" to a deal or an offer on the table.

"There have been conversations," the source said.

Speculation that Baldwin could possibly take over Carson Daly's timeslot was shut down this afternoon when NBC announced that Last Call With Carson Daly has been renewed for a 13th season.

For now, Baldwin can be heard hosting his popular podcast Here's the Thing for WNYC radio in New York.

(E! Online and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
