Jodie Sweetin: Why I'll Never Use Drugs Again

Jodie Sweetin, Unsweetined, Book Cover Amazon.com
More from Marc Malkin

It sounds like Jodie Sweetin, who played lovable Stephanie Tanner on family favorite sitcom Full House, is finally on her way to living the sweet life after years of alcohol and substance abuse.

In her new, brutally honest memoir UnSweetined, which hits stands today, Sweetin details how her life went from child star to out-of-control crystal meth addict. We caught up with Sweetin, now 27, the other day to talk about recovery, her one-a-half-year-old daughter, Zoie, and why she no longer thinks about using...

Mischa Barton's "Silly" Hospitalization Continues to Confound

Mischa Barton Tino Garcia/startraksphoto.com

That Mischa Barton is just so wise.

Perhaps that's why her meltdown that sent her to the psychiatric ward is being blamed on her wisdom teeth. Still.

The Beautiful Life starlet appeared on The View today and was appropriately grilled on the situation. Instead of giving the Barbara Walters and the other ladies who coffee klatch stock answers or keeping her mouth shut, she opened way wide, including talk of pain meds and suicide (we think, kinda, sorta)…

Britain's Got Talent Sob Story: An Imperfect 10

Look out Susan Boyle, Britain's Got Talent may have a new sentimental favorite. Little 10 year-old Hollie Steel looked like she was about to crash and burn on the U.K. TV competition when she forgot the lyrics and started bawling her eyes out during "Edelweiss."

But after the producer's told her there was no time for a do-over, who should leap to her rescue but none other than American Idol's designated ogre, Simon Cowell. Steel bounced back with a steller version of the Sound of Music classic, and made it through to the last round.

Belter Boyle might be well advised to consider preparing another curse-spouting rant, in case this teary tyke usurps the Cats-loving singer's anticipated win in the finals.

Jason Wahler: Not a Hitter, Just an Idiot

Jason Wahler admits to acting like a drunken ass. But not a violent drunken ass.

"I did not do that, I'm positive," the former Hills bad-boy testified in his defense Tuesday, denying that he punched a tow truck driver who is now suing him for assault.

"I was being an idiot," Wahler said. "I was running off at my mouth."

The 21-year-old troublemaker avoided two months behind bars last year by checking into rehab after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery for getting nasty with plaintiff Dario Stevenson and L.A. city traffic Officer Jonathan Wallace on Sept. 22, 2006. Wahler apparently took issue with the duo as they tried to tow a car that was blocking his route on Wilshire Boulevard.

It wasn't one of the aspiring actor's better performances: Stevenson and Wallace, both of whom are black, accused him of spouting off racial slurs in addition to taking a few swings.

Why Do Celebs "Retire"—and Then Keep Working?

Joaquin Phoenix Jason Merritt/Getty Images
More from Ask the Answer Bitch

Is Joaquin Phoenix really retiring from movies? I don't believe it.
—Shelley, Newtown, Pa.

You shouldn't. Why? Because celebrities are addicted to fame.

Yes, Joaquin Phoenix says he's quitting films to explore music. Except music doesn't come with the bajillion-dollar fame machine that movies do. Singers are less likely to end up on the cover of Vanity Fair and don't get to go to the Oscars—Miley Cyrus notwithstanding.

Yes, Phoenix is not your typical star. He walks out of interviews and has facial hair better suited for men who live in remote shacks, making bombs out of pine tar and raccoon teeth. But Phoenix also has had a taste of fame. And once you acquire it, it's hard to leave behind.

Where's the proof, you say? Where do I begin...

Lily Praises Po-po, Eviscerates Elton

She may have had nothing but vitriol for cohost Elton John, but at Tuesday night's London-set GQ Men of the Year Awards, Lily Allen did have some kind words reserved for one British icon: the bobbies.

Before berating the Rocket Man onstage—and, as it were, before dispatching plenty  of complimentary tipple—the 23-year-old "Smile" singer had nothing but praise for the London Metropolitan Police, thanking them publicly for rescuing a friend who had recently been abducted at gunpoint.

"My friend Charlie was kidnapped a few weeks ago and was kept in a car boot for six days without food or anything," she told reporters on her way into the show. "It was really scary."

Scarier even than going head-to-head with a cantankerous knighted pop star, if you can believe it.

Sienna Seeks Solace from Spotlight

Sienna Miller Bobby Rachpoot, PacificCoastNews.com

Well, it obviously wasn't laughing gas.

While filling up her car at a Malibu station Monday, Sienna Miller found herself surrounded by paparazzi and being questioned about her relationship with married actor Balthazar Getty. You know, the guy she's been hanging out with, sometimes topless, while his wife is at home with their four kids.

Well, it seems the actress didn't care for all the attention and proceeded to drive to the Beverly Hills police station (with about 30 cars following her) to request an escort.

What do you all think? Has Sienna brought this upon herself, or should she simply be left alone? Sound off in our comments section.

Dad Details Billable Hours Spent With Britney

Britney Spears' father has gotten technical.

Following up on his petition to collect "replacement compensation" for the month of February for being the coconservator of his daughter's estate, Jamie Spears stated in a declaration filed June 6 that, starting Feb. 1, when he was first given control over Britney's affairs following her second hospitalization this year, he was with her "on a near-twenty-four-hour basis to ensure her safety and well-being."

A court commissioner did not allocate $2,500 a week for the elder Spears—plus funds to lease a car—until March 3.

Amy Whines Outside House

Amy Winehouse INFdaily.com

They tried to take her picture and she said no, no, no.

Amy Winehouse was returning to her London home Monday after paying her incarcerated husband, Blake, a visit when she reportedly lashed out at the photographers who were awaiting her arrival. According to the U.K.'s Telegraph, the "Rehab" crooner allegedly pushed a paparazzo and grabbed his camera.

Lucky for these shutterbugs, Amy refrained from siccing her mice on 'em.

Britney Has Had Dad's Back Since Day One

There's a method to this madness.

The $2,500 weekly allowance Jamie Spears receives from Britney's estate for acting as her conservator isn't quite the random number it seems to be, nor is it just an estimate of how much work it takes to manage the popster's at-times-tumultuous affairs.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, the elder Spears had been earning a living working as a caterer and private chef prior to hunkering down with his daughter following her weeklong stay at UCLA Medical Center in early February. (View the documents.)

And, as you might have noticed, taking care of Britney was a full-time job back then.

"Because Mr. Spears has been forced to forego [sic] other employment in order to devote his full time and attention to Britney and her affairs, he has lost his regular source of income from which to pay his living expenses," the court order, filed May 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court, states.

The commissioner presiding over Britney's conservatorship case originally ordered Jamie's allowance to start rolling in after March 3, but the elder Spears successfully lobbied for $2,500 per week dating back to Feb. 1, when he was first appointed coconservator of the "Toxic" singer's estate along with attorney Andrew Wallet.

As it stands, a hearing to revisit the conservatorship issue is scheduled for July 31. There's also a hearing set for May 29 to review these money matters.

Pete Wentz's Premarital Discord

Pete Wentz Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.com

This probably wasn't the kind of service Pete Wentz had in mind a week before his wedding.

The newlywed rocker was served May 10 with a lawsuit filed last month by an allegedly traumatized fan who claims Wentz and several members of his entourage roughed him up following an invite-only Fall Out Boy performance in Chicago last June.

Per court documents obtained by E! News, the lucky process server tried knocking on Wentz's door once on May 8 and twice on May 9, but no one answered. Then, on the 10th, contact was finally made by at least someone at the residence at 11:31 a.m.

Andy Kallas sued Wentz for assault, battery and negligence saying the unprovoked beatdown at Schuba's Tavern in Chicago resulted in injuries to his head, mouth and face and caused him a sizable amount of emotional trauma. The club has also been named as a defendant.

"Even small people who get the first blow can still do some damage,” the plaintiff's attorney, Stephen Zouras, told E! News at the time. “He started the attack and then had his bodyguards complete the attack for him."

Meanwhile, a rep for Wentz called the case "meritless."

"We looked into it, and the facts don't support his claims. We will vigorously defend this case in court."

Winehouse Passes the Bars

Amy Winehouse Ben Dome, PacificCoastNews.com

Amy Winehouse is as free as a songbird again.

London's Metropolitan Police confirms that the Grammy winner posted bail and was released from custody after being arrested and questioned for several hours Wednesday in connection with a video leaked earlier this year to Britain's Sun tabloid in which Winehouse talks about—and seemingly uses—drugs.

"Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries," publicist Chris Goodman said in a statement earlier today when news of the "Rehab" singer's second arrest in as many weeks got out. "The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year."

British authorities have explained that it's routine procedure to put someone under arrest when they appear for questioning in connection with an alleged crime.

Especially when that person is Amy Winehouse.
