Mira Sorvino Getting Hitched
Step aside, mighty Aphrodite, Cupid is responsible for this May-December love match.
Mira Sorvino, 36, will be tying the knot this summer with her boyfriend, waiter-aspiring actor Chris Backus, 22.
According to Us Weekly, the camera-friendly couple has been secretly engaged since September and are planning a summer wedding in Southern California, though conflicting reports suggest the nuptials may go down on the Italian island of Capri.
The two reportedly met in the spring of 2003 when Backus was waiting tables at Sur Restaurant & Grill in West Hollywood and took Sorvino's order. They've been inseparable ever since, gushed the glossy, which says the pair have been spotted playing with their two dogs on the beach and grocery shopping at Ralphs.
Sources say Giorgio Armani will be designing the wedding dress, which may or may not have been let out to accommodate Sorvino's allegedly burgeoning belly--but her rep denies the actress is preggers.
It'll be the first marriage for both. Sorvino, daughter of Paul, has previously been linked to French hottie Olivier Martinez and Quentin Tarantino, whom she dated from 1996 to '98.
Despite her Hollywood pedigree, the actress didn't enter show biz until she was in her twenties, with roles in soaps like Guiding Light and Swans Crossing. Her breakthrough role in 1995's Mighty Aphrodite nabbed her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
Other credits that followed include Beautiful Girls, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and The Replacement Killers, but none of the roles managed to replicate her Aphrodite success.
Up next for the actress--aside from her walk down the aisle--is the sci-fi thriller The Final Cut opposite Robin Williams and the ensemble comedy Instant Karma, costarring Pierce Brosnan, Burt Reynolds, the Rock, Gene Wilder and more.
