Nicollette's Desperate Goodbye: Short and Simple

Nicollette Sheridan must not like long goodbyes.

Sheridan apparently didn't have much to say when she broke the news to the cast of Desperate Housewives yesterday that she's leaving the show. She made the announcement during their 2 p.m. table read.

Kathryn Joosten, who plays Karen McCluskey on D.H., gave us the scoop...

"Bye, it was really nice working with everybody. It's been terrific and a real honor." Joosten shared Sheridan's farewell to her castmates with us last night at Erica Courtney’s 10th annual Drop Dead Gorgeous Oscar party with the Tanzanite Foundation at the W L.A.-Westwood hotel.

“Then," said Joosten, "we all said, ‘Bye,’ and she said, ‘I have a scene to go do, so let me go study that.’ And that was that. Totally professional."

E! Online’s very own Awful Truth broke the news yesterday that Sheridan is leaving the hit prime-time soap, with her character, Edie Britt, being killed off in an accident involving a car and an electrical wire.

Joosten said she's not sure if Edie goes to the great Wisteria Lane in the sky, but it sure sounds likely. "There’s an accident...At the very end of [the latest script], she falls to the ground and there's a loose finger," Joosten said, adding, "I'm reading [the script] thinking, Wait a minute—does this mean what I think it means?"

Even though she gave her farewell yesterday, Joosten said Sheridan is expected to be on set shooting scenes today and tomorrow.
