But did it hook voters deciding the fields for Emmy's reality-TV races?

Yup.

Idol scored its ninth straight nod for Outstanding Reality-Competition Series, and its first sans Simon Cowell.

It'll face old foes The Amazing Race, which beat Idol seven times, and Top Chef, which beat Idol last year.

So You Think You Can Dance, Project Runway and Dancing With the Stars round out the category. 

Survivor's Jeff Probst, whose won Outstanding Reality or Reality-Competition Host all three previous years of the award's existence, is up for the prize again.

This time, Probst will have to outwit, outlast and outplay So You Think You Can Dance's Cat Deeley, The Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan, DWTS' Tom Bergeron and Idol's Ryan Seacrest.

The Seacrest-produced Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution will not repeat as Outstanding Reality Program. Nominated in the category this year are: Antiques Roadshow, Deadliest Catch, Hoarders, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List and MythBusters.
