Scarlett, Denzel, Jude, Jay-Z and Green Day Have Date With Tonys

Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman among biggest snubs as Broadway nominations announced this morning

Sure, last year's Tonys were filled with star-studded, head-banging moments, but was Jay-Z a nominee?

Don't think so.

Jeff Daniels and Glee's Lea Michele read the list of nominees for this year's Tony Awards, which will be doled out on June 13 at Radio City Music Hall.

To say there were a few familiar names (ahem, Scarlett Johansson) would be a serious understatement, but there was a pair of handsome gents conspicuously missing from this morning's announcement…

Sorry, Bond and Wolverine. Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman and their play A Steady Rain garnered no love from the Broadway League and American Theatre Wing. However, the aforementioned Iron Man 2 hottie earned a nod for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her part in A View From the Bridge.

Her costar Liev Schreiber is up against some heavy hitters for Leading Actor in a Play, including boldfacers Jude Law in Hamlet, Denzel Washington in Fences, Christopher Walken in A Behanding in Spokane and Alfred Molina in Red.

Meanwhile, the producers of Fela!—that would include Jay-Z, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Alicia Keys—must be proud. They scored a leading 11 gongs, including Best Musical, Direction and Choreography.

Billie Joe Armstrong and friends totaled three nominations, including Best Musical, for American Idiot. Similarly, the Elton John-produced play Next Fall scored a pair.

In other names you'll surely recognize, Viola Davis and Laura Linney face off for Best Lead Actress in a Play and Kelsey Grammer and Will & Grace's Sean Hayes vie for Best Lead Actor in a Musical. Catherine Zeta-Jones is up for Lead Actress in a Musical while her A Little Night Music costar Angela Lansbury earned a wink for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Still, there were ample celeb snubs beyond Craig and Jackman.

Broadway may have brought Jude and Sienna Miller back together, but she'll only get to go to the big show as arm candy. Anne Hathaway earned a Drama Desk nomination but came up empty at the Tonys for Twelfth Night. While David Alan Grier earned a gong for Race, costar Kerry Washington didn't make the cut.
