Is Jon Gosselin tired of being a freeloader?

From the sounds of it, the former Plus 8 star may be trying to clear the air between him and the show's network in order to start talking and making money again. In other words, prepare to see Jon back on your television screen in the near future.

Gosselin's attorney, Mark Heller, tells E! News he is currently in talks with TLC's lawyers regarding a settlement in their breach-of-contract suit. The octodad earned the legal action when he made paid, televised appearances and made unauthorized disclosures about behind-the-scenes antics, while allegedly being an exclusive employee of the network.

A settlement could determine if the two have any sort of future together.

"I can't say what's imminent but certainly it's possible," Heller says. "In the next week or so, I'll know. We're waiting to go through all the issues."

Heller even claims there's a chance the two could work together again once the legal drama is over.

"That depends on what happens in the settlement, which we should have some finalization to shortly," he says.

Jon has been an active part of the legal process and gave his deposition and discovery two weeks ago. However, if the issues cannot be resolved, Heller says they're still scheduled to go to trial in April.

"If there's no settlement, then we will get back on schedule for mediation or arbitration," he claims. "If that doesn't succeed, then we have the trial in April."

It might be in everybody's interest to get the case resolved quickly. Aside from the effect on Jon, the legal wrangling has also held up any new shooting involving his children, wreaking havoc with TLC's planned spinoff show featuring Kate Gosselin.

Still, according to his legal eagle, Big J doesn't need the cable net to maintain his Hollywood cache. He's a hot ticket, after all.

"[Jon] has had more exposure in the tabloids in the year 2009 than any other reality TV celebrity," Heller says. "It appears that he has a persona that is very much of interest to the public. Being on television or other media, like movies, would be certainly a career move for him to consider."

In other words, Jon may attempt to turn his infamy into actual fame. We shudder to think it.
