Bruce Springsteen Cancels Show Due to Death in the Family

There's the family we were born with and the family we find along the way. Bruce Springsteen has both.

And tonight, his show with the E Street Band in Kansas City, Mo., was "unavoidably cancelled" following a death in Springsteen's "immediate family," according to a statement on the rocker's website.

No further details were available, but local police told the K.C. Star that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death this afternoon of a member of Springsteen's road crew.

Police found the 34-year-old man, whose identify has not been revealed, dead in his room at the InterContinental Hotel on the Plaza. They don't suspect foul play, but are conducting a routine inquiry.

There's no confirmation that this is the death Springsteen was referring to and his rep has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Tickets for Monday's show at Sprint Center will be refunded. "Bruce and The Band deeply appreciate the understanding of our Kansas City audience and look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity," the website read.

After tonight, the guys aren't scheduled to perform until Thursday during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Sad news. Reminds us of the pop stars who exited stage right far too soon.
