From Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan to Ryan Seacrest and John Mayer, the celebs who knew DJ AM (or at least just dug his vibe) immediately took to their Twitter accounts upon hearing of his sudden death at age 36.

"Nononononono what?????" went the first obviously shocked tweet from Lindsay Lohan, whose ex, Samantha Ronson, was close pals with AM.

"I can't believe this.. i'm in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam," the starlet wrote. "Last weekend and this week have definitely left some unforgettable scars."

Added Hilton, whose onetime BFF, Nicole Richie, was engaged to AM, wrote: "Adam and I were friends since I was 15. He had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest, funniest and most talented men I have ever met...It's so hard to accept that I'm not going to be able to see him or talk to him again. There are no right words for this, I feel so sad. :("

Travis Barker's ex, Shanna Moakler, who was one of the first to react online, wrote, "My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends."

Barker and AM, who performed together under the moniker TRVSDJAM, survived a Learjet crash that killed four other people and left them critically injured last September.

"He struggled with pain after the crash," a close friend of AM told E! News Friday when asked about reports that the famed spinner's death was drug-related. "But it seemed like he was functioning fine and never missed work."

Until tonight.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of DJ Am," read a statement from nightlife impresario George Maloof, owner of the Palms Casino Resort, where AM had a weekly engagement on Fridays. "He was our resident DJ at Rain Nightclub...We considered him a friend and a great artist. He will truly be missed."

"So sad the hear about adam. a very kind and generous guy," Seacrest wrote on Twitter this afternoon.

Added a stricken Mayer: "In complete shock...I really want to use words right now but I can't get em. F--k... We're supposed to lose our friends to time, at an age when we're ready to agree to the terms of having lived a long life. Not now."

"DJ AM was such a genuine person!" wrote Kim Kardashian. "He is in a better place, may God rest his soul..."

"Tell your loved ones you love them every chance you get," Khloé Kardashian had written earlier. "You never know when it will be the last time. God bless DJ AM. I love you."
