Perhaps there's a reason many people don't trust Brooks Ayers.

During a series of sit-down interviews with E! News' Melanie Bromley, Vicki Gunvalson's ex-boyfriend refuted several Real Housewives of Orange County cast members' claims that he has been lying about his cancer diagnosis. In fact, he even offered up his medical records as proof. As many readers and viewers have pointed out, though, there are inconsistencies in his stories.

E! News has compared the documents Ayers provided with those of another recent patient; both parties' addresses and several other personal details have been censored for their privacy.

Red Flag No. 1: The City of Hope Logo

In Ayers' invoice, dated Jan. 22, 2015, the City of Hope National Medical Center logo has a small trademark symbol—something a person would find if they did an image search for "City of Hope logo." In the other patients' document, by contrast, no such trademark symbol appears.

Red Flag No. 2: Address Formatting

In the other patient's invoice from City of Hope National Medical Center, its address appears as "1500 E. Duarte Road, Duarte, California 91010." In Ayers' provided document, the word "east" is abbreviated and the center's address appears as "1500 East Duarte Road, Duarte CA 91010."

Red Flag No. 3: Medical Record Number

Ayers' document includes an "Invoice #" that includes eight digits, while the other patient's document does not. Instead, it has a "Medical Record Number" listed and includes eight digits.

Red Flag No. 4: Visit # and Visit Type

In the other patient's document, each item is broken down by date (MM/DD/YEAR) and includes a "Visit #" and "Visit Type" (outpatient, surgery, etc.). Ayers' document does not provide any of this information.

Red Flag No. 5: Patient Name

In Ayers' document, his name appears as "David B. Ayers." In the other document, the patient's surname appears before the birth name.

Red Flag No. 6: Online Invoices

While Ayers provided us with his medical invoice, which he claims was accessible through the patient portal, a source tells us that invoices and bills are actually not available to patients online.

Ayers has yet to respond to the inconsistencies outlined above.
