Not only is the eye makeup totally wrong for her outfit and hair, but it's just plain wrong... The harsh liquid eyeliner paired with the rainbow of eye shadow colors equals one hot mess.
We just can't understand why the star of The Good Wife didn't embrace her Audrey Hepburn-esque hair and dress, and rock a retro winged eye and fire engine red lip. Perhaps she lost a bet?
Beauty Bailout: We wouldn't touch the hair. It's absolutely perfect with the retro full-skirted dress. As for the makeup, we would keep the foundation and blush – her skin looks perfect and we love the naturally flushed-looking cheeks.
But as for the eye makeup, get out the cotton pads and eye makeup remover stat. We're starting from scratch. First, prep your upper eye area with primer or concealer to ensure the makeup didn't absorb into her skin. Next, cover the upper eye area with a matte cream or flesh-colored eye shadow like MAC Eye Shadow in Blanc Type.
To create dimension, contour your creases with a matte brown like Pixi Fairy Light Solo Eyeshadow in Cocoa Haze by applying the eye shadow with a small eye brush, in a back and forth motion. Bring the shadow out to the edges of the creases and then create a V-shape with the outer corners of her eyes. Blend with small circular motions.
Then, to create a classic retro winged eye, use a true black gel eyeliner like Revlon ColorStay Crème Gel Eyeliner. Use the liner applicator to draw a thin line from the inner corner of your eye. Once you get to the center of your eye, gradually make the line thicker.
To find the correct angle for your winged swoop, line up a pencil from the outer corner of your eye to the outer corner of your eyebrow. Then, from the outer corner of the eye, draw a line following that angle.
Next, connect the tip of the line with the top corner of the liner along your lash line to create a triangle shape. Fill in the shape with the liquid liner. Hint: If your winged eye ends up looking more like an ink blob, use a pointy Q-tip soaked in makeup remover to clean up the area and create the desired shape.
We definitely would have put Julianna in a fiery red, highly pigmented lipstick like Illamasqua Lipstick in Maneater. With her black hair and fair skin, she was born to wear a crimson pucker.
We'll never understand what would inspire Julianna to wear an eye shadow palette worthy of eighties wallpaper, but we certainly hope this reckless behavior doesn't continue. Next thing we know, Mrs. Florrick will be wearing peacock blue eyeliner and gold eye shadow to court. A true beauty apocalypse… We may have nightmares tonight.
