Even Miley Cyrus' best friends have a bone to pick with all that tongue-wagging the teen was doing at the MTV Video Music Awards last night.

She started warming her tongue up early on the red carpet, though her new favorite thing to do may not have been as noticeable up against her vintage, midriff-baring Dolce & Gabbana separates, a look Joan Rivers called "adorable," "age-appropriate" and "a cross between Olivia Newton-John in Grease and Paris Hilton in Lube" during tonight's special edition of Fashion Police.

But once Miley was wearing next to nothing during her twerk-tastic, foam-finger-utilizing performance with Robin Thicke, her tongue could not be tamed.

"I look at the performance and yes, I do have a lot of the same opinions as you guys about it," cohost Kelly Osbourne said when Joan asked what, as Miley's good pal, she thought of the whole spectacle.

"But we're not talking about her performance, we're talking about what she's wearing," Kelly added, turning her attention back to the nude bra-and-shorts combo that was lurking underneath the bear-face leotard Miley was sporting when she initially took the stage.

"This outfit Lady Gaga wore to the Grammy's three years ago when she came out of an egg," Kelly recalled. "It's not that original but I do appreciate its reminiscent of the 'Blurred Lines' music video. It's just...Miley's my friend and I love her, and I have her back no matter what, but as her friend I'm going to tell her:

"Put your f--king tongue in your mouth. I love you, but just put your tongue in your mouth."

And that's coming straight from a friend, Miley.
