Update, 3:50 p.m.: E! News caught up exclusively with the actor who is being killed off. See below for what he or she has to say about leaving the series.

Well, this just might be the worst-kept spoiler ever, 'cause when an executive producer testifies under oath that a certain character is getting killed off a series, well...We gotta take him at his word. Right?

Desperate Housewives executive producer George Perkins took the stand today in the Nicollette Sheridan trial in Los Angeles. And when Sheridan attorney Patrick Maloney asked if any other major character has been killed off the series besides Sheridan's Edie Brit, Perkins said:

"Yes. Mike Delfino."

RIP, TV's hottest plumber.

The courtroom was stunned and while Perkins turned bright red, D.H. creator Marc Cherry had a giant grin on his face.

Perkins confirmed to Maloney that the death would take place in this Sunday's episode.

So is Delfino really a goner?

And ABC rep tells us: "You'll have to tune in this Sunday to find out!"

We think we already know the answer. Again, the oath.

Perkins also admitted that when the D.H. writers convened in June 2008 to mull over who to kill off (ultimately it was Sheridan), the writers also were considering Denton, Ricardo Chavira, Kyle McLachlan and..wait for it...Teri Hatcher.

So Denton has apparently been on the chopping block for quite some time. And Teri, well, we're guessing this may be news to her!

Desperate Housewives airs its worst-kept-spoiler episode this Sunday on ABC.

Update, 3:50 p.m.: E! News spoke exclusively with Denton outside the courtroom today, and he tells us that saying goodbye to the show is "bittersweet", and that "It has been a great ride and I'm sad it's ending."

Denton admitted he was "nervous" about testifying against Sheridan but that he came "voluntarily." He said he spoke to Nicolette before he walked into the courtroom, and that was the first time he has seen or spoken to her since she left the show.

On the stand, Denton testified that he has "tremendous respect for both [Cherry and Sheridan]."
