All was relatively quiet on the Kim Kardashian divorce front. Then, as they tend to do, the ever-reliable tabloids reared their ugly heads and spit out a new round of reports.

This time around, Life & Style leads the rallying cries, claiming that Kim's hubby of just 72 days, Kris Humphries, has flat-out refused to sign the divorce papers that would put a formal end to his marriage in an attempt to force a reconciliation.

Certainly Humphries has been clear in his devastation over the filing and in his only statement on the matter said he was "willing to do whatever it takes" to save the marriage and the "covenant" he had with Kim.

Including—according to a supposed pal of Humphries—withholding his signature on the divorce docs. But is it really true? Is Kris really refusing to sign off on the split? Don't go splitting those assets just yet, this rumor is...

So false!

Despite the tabloid's breathless claims, a source close to Humphries tells E! News that the report couldn't be more off base.

"It is not true that Kris is not going to sign the divorce papers."

Over the weekend, Kim and Kris met face-to-face for the first time since news of their surprise split broke, with Kardashian flying to Minnesota to meet up with her estranged husband.

"He's sad," a source close to the basketballer told E! News at the time. "He doesn't want a war. He's laying low."

Mission accomplished, albeit with one small backfire: apparently he's laid so low that the tabloids have had no choice but to make up stories. Ah, well. Even with only 72 days of marriage under his belt, we're guessing that's something he's already gotten used to.
