Unless you're Britney Spears, this has not been a great month for couples.

Debra Messing and her husband of 10 years, Daniel Zelman, are the latest to confirm that things haven't been what they seem for quite some time.

The pair "privately separated earlier this year after a 10-year marriage," a rep for Messing said in a statement to E! News. "The decision was mutual, and they remain supportive of one another and committed to raising their son as a family."

And they aren't kidding!

Us Weekly, which first reported the split, quotes a source saying that Messing, Zelman and their 7-year-old son, Roman, are still living together in New York City in a "very amicable" arrangement for the child's benefit.

The exes have known each other for years, having met at NYU on their first day of graduate school in the 1990s.

"We were just classmates," Messing told Redbook about four years ago. "And then we did Romeo and Juliet together. That was my attempt to get him alone. And it worked."

They tied the knot on Sept. 3, 2000.

"But I'm not one to give out marriage advice," the former Will & Grace star added. "Circumstance has so much to do with whether or not your relationship survives and evolves. Daniel and I are very different—he's levelheaded, whereas I'm more the fiery, emotional one...It's sacrifice and compromise."
