Watch: Luke Bryan Describes Blake Shelton in One Word

Luke Bryan has managed to describe his buddy, fellow country star and frequent ACM Awards co-host Blake Shelton in one word...and it's clean.

"Oh, just 'genuine,'" Bryan, 39, told E! News at the 2015 CMT Artists of the Year event in Nashville on Wednesday.

"Is that good?" he added. "That's the first time I've ever been able to do that, with one word. I couldn't say 'asshole.' That's two words.'"

Both he and Shelton, 39, were honored at the event. This marked the first such award for Shelton, while Bryan has received the honor several times before.

In his acceptance speech, Bryan gave a shout-out to his wife, Caroline Boyer. Shelton did not name names when he received his award.

"This has been a crazy year, from the way it started to how it's ending, so awesome for me so thank ya'll. This is a great way to end it for me," he said. "Thank you so much."

The singer divorced wife and fellow country star Miranda Lambert, 32, in July and it was revealed last month he is dating singer and The Voice co-star Gwen Stefani, 46. She congratulated him with an Instagram video.

Lambert is also a former multiple CMT Artists of the Year honoree and received the award most recently in 2014. During her acceptance speech, she tearfully thanked Shelton, calling him her "rock."

Bryan also talked to E! News about his family's upcoming plans for Christmas. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee, near Nashville, with his wife and their sons, Thomas, 7, and Tatum, 5. The couple is also raising their nephew and two nieces, whose parents, Bryan's sister and her husband, are deceased.

"Typically we do a chili dog night," Bryan said. "We make chili dogs on Christmas Eve and so yeah, we'll do and we dress up in Christmas pajamas and eat chili dogs. We're going to be doing Christmas here and very excited to spend some time with the boys for the holidays."

Before Christmas, on Dec. 8, Bryan and his wife will celebrate their ninth wedding anniversary.

In his interview with E! News, the singer also talked about his New Year's resolution, which is the same one he's had in previous years...and which he has never been able to fulfill. Watch the video to find out what it is.
