Chris Pine is used to starring roles, but in Wonder Woman, he'll be playing a secondary character—and he couldn't be happier about it!

The 35-year-old hunk will reportedly play leading lady Gal Gadot's love interest Steve Trevor in the highly anticipated movie, and as reported on Premiere (as excerpted by Screenrant.com), he's "super excited" about it.

"Gal Gadot is super talented," he said of his co-star. "Patty Jenkins [Wonder Woman's director] will perform, and we will shoot in film..."

The Star Trek hunk seems to be approaching the film from a feminist viewpoint, too. "What excites me most is to work in a movie with a superhero woman," he said. "With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity."

As for Gadot? "Oh, my God, I'm so excited about this role," the 30-year-old actress told Interview magazine. "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There's a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It's going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood."

We're knocking! Of course, Gadot is well aware people are going to be hyper critical of what she brings to her character. "People will always have something to say because that's the way people are," she said. "And it's okay. But for me, it's my job. It's my career. It's my art. Whatever I do, I take it very seriously and I do my research and I give it my best. I just want to be able to shine and inspire people. And it's not just about me. It's the script and the story and the acting. I hope people are going to love it."

We have high hopes. Wonder Woman is expected to hit theaters in 2017.
