Because we're busy ogling a shirtless Damon (Ian Somerhalder) as he charms his way through a conversation with Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Alaric (Matt Davis) and not really hearing that words are being spoken.
"Please tell me I'm not interrupting something," she says when she walks in the room to see the Damon-Alaric bromance very much alive, and one of them shirtless. No one spouts off a one-liner like Bonnie Bennett!
In actuality, important things are going on: Bonnie is there to ask Alaric whether or not he actually destroyed the Phoenix Stone they discovered during last week's episode of TVD. She's had a horrific vision, and needs to know whether Alaric actually got rid of it or not.
He assures her he did, and then—apologies, distracted by Somerhalder torso once again. And now distracted by that smirk, and those ice blue eyes.
OK, sorry, back. Once the matter of the Stone is discussed, Damon proposes the gang take a trip to Myrtle Beach to figure out why Lily was making phone calls that bounced off a cell tower in the coastal South Carolina city. Yes, a road trip between these three weirdos will ensue, and it will be glorious.
Elsewhere in "The Age of Innocence," Caroline (Candice King) will learn some shocking information about Valerie's past while being held hostage by the Heretics. Oh, and there are flashbacks to 1863, so you know what that means—flashback wigs!
