Meredith's dinner party ended up with one very unwelcome guest

Well that's gonna be one awkward dinner party.

We need it to be next Thursday kind of immediately after the end of tonight's Grey's Anatomy, in which Callie's new girlfriend Penny was revealed to be...the doctor who let Derek die!

We should have known Penny would turn out to be someone crazy significant based on how much Callie wouldn't shut up about her, but we could not have guessed in a million years just how significant she would end up being.

After a couple of weeks of hardly mentioning Derek, Mer's deceased husband came up a lot this week, from her acknowledging the fact that he first slept with her when she was an intern to her giving a speech to the current interns about how to tell a person that their loved one has died.

That speech in itself made tonight's episode beautiful and sad, but that twist at the end, as Callie arrived for the dinner party Mer had kind of forgotten she was having, was like a cruel punch to the gut.

We had just finally gotten over Derek, and now we get to cry over him yet again.

Elsewhere in TGIT land, Scandal gave us a sort of True Hollywood Story situation as Olivia continued to deal with the affair reveal fall-out. We now want an actual True Hollywood Story about Olivia, at least on the DVD.

Plus, Marcus Walker (Cornelius Smith Jr.) has now joined the Gladiators (somewhat reluctantly), Jake (whose name is not actually Jake) found himself in #cahoots with his (surprise!) ex-wife Elise (whose name is not actually Elise). (How much fun did you guys just have reading that last sentence?)

Mellie, meanwhile, has now decided to officially try to impeach Fitz, which sounds like a whole lot of fun storyline we can't wait for.

On How to Get Away with Murder, a teen got stabbed in the case-of-the-week, but that hardly mattered next to the fact that Annalise's little minions are dropping one by one. Wes is working with Nate, and this week, Connor started to rightfully be like "WTF?" about how this is a group of people surrounded by a whole lot of murder.

Annalise was super distracted tonight, thanks to Nate's wife confronting her from her hospital bed, and Asher very nearly testified against Annalise to keep from getting in trouble for whatever happened at Trotter Lake, until BonBon pretended she was the one who killed Sam.

Basically, everything is nuts all over the place, and after a couple of relatively quiet weeks in Shondaland, it feels like everything is really picking up steam.
