Marvel and ABC are taking a dip into the comedy world with their latest superhero project. The Disney-owned companies are working on a new half-hour comedy series tentatively called Damage Control, which follows the cleanup crew assigned to pick up after superhero conflicts and disasters. New York City didn't put itself back together again after the big battle in the first Avengers movie.

According to Variety, the crew is the ones who return lost weapons to the rightful owners, help reschedule events after venues have been destroyed and track down missing pets who may have gotten caught in crosshairs. The fictional construction company first made their comic debut in 1989. ABC's single camera comedy hails from The Daily Show and Modern Family veteran Ben Karlin who is set to executive produce alongside David Miner and Marvel's Jeph Loeb.

Request for comment from Marvel was not immediately returned.

If the show goes to series, it will join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter on ABC. A spinoff from S.H.I.E.L.D. following Adrianne Palicki's fan-favorite character Mockingbird is also in the works titled Marvel's Most Wanted. Netflix has Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage already out or in waiting in the wings as well as a planned Iron Fist show and team-up series. All shows are set in the same universe as the movies.

Over on NBC, rival DC Comics is prepping a new half-hour comedy currently titled Powerless. That sitcom is an Office-style workplace series set at an insurance company that deals with normal humans…and the super powered in the DC Comics world. On the other hand, DC shows and movies are kept separate. Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are set in the same universe. Supergirl on CBS may or may not occupy the same worlds.
