Leonardo DiCaprio: Five-time Oscar nominee, regulation hottie, epic beard-grower and "King of the World": To be fair, he is kind of a Renaissance man...

In a Fox News TV report on Thursday, host Shepard Smith accidentally credited the actor and heartthrob with painting the Mona Lisa. He made the blunder while talking about how scientists are trying to identify the model used in the iconic portrait.

Smith did not acknowledge the gaffe on the air or make any mention of it online.

However, the Internet sure did.

DiCaprio, 40, was actually named after the original late iconic Italian artist...that would be Leonardo da Vinci (whose name was also given to a certain member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but we digress).

"My dad says he and my mom were visiting the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, and stopped to look at a Leonardo da Vinci painting," DiCaprio told The Wall Street Journal in 2013. "My mom was pregnant with me, and I started kicking furiously, so my dad said, 'That is an omen.'"

The Mona Lisa is one of the most famous portraits in the world. In fact, it is the most famous portrait in the world. Millions of people flock to the Louvre museum in Paris every year to see it.

And if you're Demi Lovato, you also use the opportunity to have a little private dance party.
