It's the hair that launched a million "Ahhhs."
Justin Bieber debuted a new haircut at the 2015 VMAs, which many compared to Kate Gosselin's style, but Thursday morning the Biebs took off his hat while performing on NBC's Today to unveil platinum blonde locks! The new 'do caught the crowd by surprise, as everyone shrieked with excitement and disbelief.
Justin first dyed his hair the bright hue in Dec. 2014, but it didn't last long. No word on how long the "What Do You Mean?" singer plans to keep this color-style combination around, so we'll just have to wait it out. He dished to Today's Tamron Hall that the process took about two and a half hours.
The 21-year-old singer performed "As Long As You Love Me," "Boyfriend," "Where Are Ü Now," "What Do You Mean?" and an acoustic version of "Baby," which drove fans wild. Although Justin didn't get teary eyed like he did during the awards show last week, he did admit that all the "acceptance" he has received since returning to the music scene has been amazing.
"It just feels so great to just feel the acceptance," he told the morning show co-hosts. "It's not like that's where I get my validation, but it just shows that they're for me and not against me. You always go in this situation, especially for me now I just feel judged, and it's hard but I'm feeling more confident now."
Throughout his performances fans kept screaming "Bieber's back," but Justin wanted to clarify one thing...he never went away! He did, however, try to go find himself in the midst of the mistakes he was making.
"I never left, but I took some time to just do some soul searching for sure," he explained.
Ever since announcing his forthcoming album, set for release in November, he has been very candid about his "bad boy" stage and why he has since gotten his act together.
"It has to be on you. You have to make the conscious effort, because for me, so many times it was good people coming in my life and tugging at me, but I wasn't ready," he told radio host Elvis Duran at the end of August.
"They're like, 'Justin, come on.' But I wasn't ready to take that leap and be like, 'OK, this is what I want to change, this is who I am, and this is not who I am.' It takes moments of clarity to be like, 'Oh, that's why I'm not like this. That's why I shouldn't do this.'"
