Anne Hathaway looks every bit the movie star on Glamour U.K.'s cover.

Posing without a shirt for the magazine's October issue, on sale Monday, The Intern actress looks serene and confident. Since winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2013, one would think Hathaway would be inundated with film offers and the chance to appear on magazine covers. According to the Les Misérables star, though, her triumphant awards season didn't yield better roles.

"I hate to admit it, but it's true—here are fewer roles and the competition is just as fierce as ever," she says. While some actresses can be competitive, Hathaway would rather be supportive. "I look around at my peers and I'm so blown away by their talent and their beauty and their cool style, as well as their ability to be an actress and be a movie star and be good at it," she says of her peers. "I mean, they're so good and we're all trying to get the same parts."

When there is a good role written for a woman, she adds, it will oftentimes go to a younger actress. "I can't complain about it because I benefited from it," explains Hathaway, who starred in hit movies like Bride Wars, The Dark Knight Rises and The Devil Wears Prada. "When I was in my early 20s, parts would be written for women in their 50s and I would get them. And now I'm in my early 30s and I'm like, 'Why did that 24-year-old get that part?' I was that 24-year-old once, I can't be upset about it; it's the way things are. All I can do right now is think that thankfully you have built up perhaps a little bit of cachet and can tell stories that interest you and if people go to see them you'll be allowed to make more."

And, when Hathaway is not filming, she checks in with actresses like Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. "I'm trying right now to start a book club with Em and Jessica, because they're working on a movie together," she says of the co-stars, who filmed The Huntsman with Charlize Theron over the summer. "I said, 'Let's all read this book!' But I'm not working and they are, so it's not going very well."

Meanwhile, Hathaway also admits to being inspired by Taylor Swift.

"She just seems to be following her heart. I met her—I hope it's OK to say this—when she and Jake [Gyllenhaal] were together. She was 20 at the time, and we hung out one night," Hathaway says. "I was like, 'You are a magnificent creature.' She was on fire and I've watched her become this force of nature."
