It's safe to say Carrie Underwood won't forget this summer day.

Back in July, the American Idol winner found herself in a real-life nightmare when she discovered her son and dogs were accidentally locked inside a car.

While everyone ended up being just fine, some couldn't help but wonder how in the heck that happened.

During a recent interview, the "Smoke Break" singer was asked about the incident and, as it turns out, Underwood willingly shared the whole story.

"We were at the airport, the car was running, the radio was on, the air conditioning was on, our family kind of came to see us off," she explained to US99.5 radio. "As you do, you get out of the front seat and you shut the door so you can turn around, so you can get your luggage out."

She continued, "Immediately, one of the dogs jumped up on the little control panel on the door, and I heard the thing click. I was like, ‘The doors locked, the doors locked, the doors locked!'"

When nobody had a spare set of keys, Underwood and hubby Mike Fisher got creative.

"We were trying to jimmy open the car door. Nobody had a hanger," she recalled. "I was trying to get the dogs to come back over and do the same thing and unlock the door."

As we learned back on July 11, it was ultimately Fisher's brother who helped save baby Isaiah and the dogs.

"My bro-in-law was actually the window breaker in the ‘dogs-locked-the-car-door' Incident today!" she wrote on Twitter. "But all is good now. Minus the broken window, of course!"
