Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney don't just help save lives on the big screen…they're also real-life superheroes!
The duo visited a young Toronto girl's lemonade stand over the weekend to help her raise money in finding a cure for her brother's rare neurological illness.
Five-year-old Na'ama Uzan's older brother, Nadav, suffers from Angelman syndrome. The rare congenital disorder is caused by genetic malformations, making it difficult for the 7-year-old to walk or talk and giving him frequent seizures.
Na'ama—a superhero in her own right—opened the lemonade stand in 2014 to raise money for the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics. So when Robbie and Courtney found out about it while filming in Toronto, they absolutely had to pay a visit.
"I heard about Na'ama's story and what she's doing for her brother Nadav," Courtney told CTV Toronto while visiting the lemonade stand. "There's no act too small when you're talking about making a difference."
Both stars were blown away by Na'ama's dedication to the charity, especially considering her young age.
Robbie couldn't help but note, "I used to do little stands like this when I was little and I'd just spend the profits on lollies at the corner store. I'm glad she's doing something far more noble with the cause."
So far, Na'ama has raised more than $64,000 for the foundation, which has helped put several clinical trials for the disease in place. She eve has a research chair dedicated in her name to finding a cure for Angelman syndrome.
