In a new interview with London's The Times, the 23-year-old flatly pronounces that she is "not doing fashion work anymore." But the shocking part could just be her reasons why.
Delevingne recalls being asked to pose in a sexually suggestive way beginning when she was just a teenager. Because she was so new to the industry, the Paper Towns star felt like she couldn't say no.
"I am a bit of a feminist and it makes me feel sick," she told the paper. "It's horrible and it's disgusting. [We're talking about] young girls. You start when you are really young and you do, you get subjected to…not great stuff."
Her demanding schedule also resulted in a few health scares, physical and emotional, that she had to power through in order to stick to her high-fashion commitments. At one time, Delevingne developed psoriasis, a skin affliction that had to be covered with foundation to hide its visible symptoms.
"People would put on gloves and not want to touch me because they thought it was, like, leprosy or something," she admitted. "It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse."
These days, the 23-year-old is transferring her talents to the big screen. After impressing critics with her performance in Paper Towns, the actress is currently filming Suicide Squad with Jared Leto and Scott Eastwood.
She ultimately hopes that the next chapter in her career will bring more happiness than pain.
"It didn't make me grow at all as a human being," she said when discussing her work in the fashion world. "And I kind of forgot how young I was. I felt so old."
She added, "I am very good at standing up for myself now, and for other people. If there is injustice I will flip out. If someone is crossing a line, they will know about it and so will everyone else."
