Could you imagine Charlize Theron playing Christian Grey's Mrs. Robinson-like former lover in Fifty Shades Darker?
Well, don't think too hard about it because it doesn't sound like that's happening anytime soon.
I caught up with the Oscar winner last night at the premiere of her new thriller Dark Places (in theaters Aug. 7) to find out the truth behind the persistent rumor that she's been cast in the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel as Elena Lincoln, a friend of Christian Grey's mother who first introduced him to S&M when he was only 15 years old.
"I hadn't heard that one," Theron said. "Wow, I'm just learning so much about myself on this carpet tonight."
She cracked, "I'm going to play the kinky guy with the room. I need to stretch. I need to find something outside of the box."
Theron also revealed that she's not officially signed on for the Mad Max: Fury Road sequel.
"Nobody has come to me to tell me anything," she said. "I haven't been in town so I don't know what's going on. There's a lot of talk about it. I don't know if it's real...Look, I would be honored to be asked back, but I have no idea what's going to happen."
How does Charlize feel about turning 40 in a couple of weeks? Watch the video below to find out.
