Even Enrique Iglesias has to deal with the DMV...or else!

The singer faces misdemeanor charges of obstruction and driving with a suspended license following a May 6 traffic stop in Miami-Dade County, E! News can confirm.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest affidavit, Iglesias was driving a white Cadillac SUV northbound on Interstate 95 in a closed express lane. A trooper saw and approached the vehicle with lights and sirens on. The SUV pulled over onto a paved shoulder of the road, but according to the arrest affidavit, Iglesias "jumped from inside the driver's seat onto the rear passenger's seat," while his male passenger, identified as Abel Tabuyo, "jumped from the front passenger's seat onto the driver's seat."

The alleged seat switch didn't fool anyone, though! Although Iglesias "immediately climbed into the right front passenger's seat," according to the affidavit, both men were placed in handcuffs pending the officer's investigation. Iglesias immediately invoked his Miranda rights and was charged of obstruction without violence. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license after the officer ran his date of birth and social security number through the system.

Tabuyo, his passenger, "stated he does not know why he switch (sic) seats" with Iglesias, the officer stated in the arrest affidavit. Iglesias' passenger was also hit with a charge of obstruction without violence.

Both men were released after signing notices to appear in court. Per local affiliate NBC6, both entered not guilty please and Iglesias' court date was set for July 10. NBC6 reached out to Iglesias' attorney for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
