It took her 33 years to do it, but Nicole Kidman finally got to kiss a woman while wearing a shower cap.

Yup, you read that right.

Let me explain...

After giving a powerful speech about female empowerment last night at the Women In Film's Crystal + Lucy Awards, Kidman and Naomi Watts each slipped on a shower cap and pseudo made out on stage.

This all goes back to a time way before Kidman, 47, was a world famous Oscar winning actress.

Kidman recalled that when she was 14 years old, then aspiring director Jane Campion offered her a role in her student film, A Girls Own Story.

"I am horrified to report that I passed on the part she offered me," Kidman said. "My excuse was that I had final exams to study for, but the truth is the part would have required me to appear up on the screen wearing a shower cap and kissing a girl...I wanted to be the kind of actress with long flowing hair [who] kissed boys.

"I was not ready to do the kind of work that threatened anybody," the Paddington actress continued. "Well, today I know better and I say, 'Jane, if you're out there…I'm ready to don this cap."

She then waved a shower cap in the air before continuing with her speech.

Kidman implored others in the room to help teen girls pursue their dreams. "Let's pledge together today to be there for that girl, to support her artistically, emotionally [and] financially. Let us create opportunities for her and teach her to manage that inner voice that is trying so hard everyday to hold her back," she said. "Let us show her that she is strong, smart and talented and she deserves every part that might interest her and at equal pay, too."

After ending her remarks with, "Let's stand tall and never ever apologize for it," Kidman and Watts slipped on the shower caps and to the surprise of everyone watching, locked lips.

The audience erupted with cheers and applause.

Jane Campion would be proud.
