Suffice to say that Carolina Herrera will never design a naked dress. Not only that, she's publically slamming the trend.

The 76-year-old designer opened up to Washington Post writer Robin Givhan about the culture of wearing, well, nothing, and let's just say she's not a fan: "[Designers think] it's so modern to be naked or almost naked," she told Givhan. "They think it's going to attract younger people if they do those dresses. No!"

Shots fired. Go on...

"The almost naked! Oh God! They're trying to get people to pay attention to them. In life, there should be a little mystery," the designer continued.

Well, Herrera does have a valid point, and she knows it—indicating the 2015 Met Gala as an, er, Exhibit Everything regarding how wearing next to nothing on the red carpet has become all too pervasive. We doubt you've forgotten the body-baring couture on the likes of Jennifer Lopez (in Atelier Versace), Kim Kardashian (in custom Roberto Cavalli) and the Queen (meaning Beyoncé, who wore a red carpet-crushing Givenchy number to the ball).

"They're supposed to be fashion icons and they're not wearing anything," she said. "It's an obsession now."

Gotta give it to Herrera for speaking her truth, and also for the years of time and consideration she's put into making clothing that enhances the beauty of the female figure (instead of bluntly showcasing key parts). Case in point: She notes that if a woman's breasts aren't placed just so beneath the fabric, they may appear "like fried eggs."

"For me, fashion is about originality, sophistication and beauty," Herrera said. "I'm not in the fashion business; I'm in the beauty business." (And we're right with you.)
