Little Mix said that they "could do better" than a song like "Pretty Girls," but they might be eating their words!

The British pop group stopped by radio station Capital FM and covered their song that now belongs to Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea. If you wondered what it would sound like to have Perrie Edwards and co. sing it, here's your chance! They sound eerily similar to Brit's version, don't they?

This cover may come as a surprise to those in the know of the song's history. The girl group originally co-wrote the song for their upcoming album, but decided that it wasn't for them, so they released it to the pop music gods. Britney and Iggy picked it up, and fortunately we now have one of the best hits of the summer!

Originally, Little Mix told The Sun that they wanted more out of their next album, so they went back to the drawing board. "We've been away a while because we wrote an album, sat with the record label and we thought, 'Nope, it's not good enough,'" group member Jesy Nelson said. "We recorded a whole album but we're perfectionists and knew we could do better. So we scrapped it and started again."

Realizing that it seemed like some shade was thrown at the "I Wanna Go" singer by saying that, the girls clarified their explanation about why they gave away their single.

"Well as we were writing the song we realized that it sounded more like it should be for somebody else rather than us," they said in their radio interview. "We absolutely think that it's perfect for Britney. She's absolutely smashing it at the moment."

In fact, they were so excited about Britney taking the song for herself that Zayn Malik's better half cried! "Perrie said they were in the studio when they heard the news that Britney Spears wanted "Pretty Girls" & she cried," a Twitter account for the band tweeted.

Little Mix released "Black Magic" instead, which also happens to be a very catchy tune for the summer, so it seems that everything worked out for the best for everyone!
