All you had to do was stay call!

Students at Skyview High School in Billings, Mont., are crossing their fingers this week that one famous celebrity will be calling their teacher sooner rather than later.

To get you caught up, world history professor Colter Pierce promised his class that he wouldn't administer finals if student Ike Stoner could get Taylor Swift to call him. The bet turned into an agreement displayed crystal clear on the classroom's whiteboard.

"If Taylor Swift calls me, my students don't have to take their finals," the note read.

In less than a week, the Facebook post has been shared more than 270,000 times and the class even got a shoutout on NBC's Today show.

"It was kind of a joke really," Stoner initially shared with KTVQ. "I just wanted to see if I could get more followers on Twitter." Pierce added, "It got out of hand fast. It escalated quickly."

But with the progress they've made in such a short amount of time, the class is getting pumped that a message could actually come through!

If and when the "Shake It Off" singer calls, the history teacher admitted that he still must follow school policy and test the knowledge of students somehow. It's safe to predict, however, that the test may end up being a bit easier for everyone.

Until exam day, Pierce and his students are excited about all the attention that has made school a bit more interesting.

"Thank you again to everyone for all your support of the students' quest," he wrote on social media. "I think I can safely speak for them when I say they appreciate it very much."

He added, "Everyone keeps telling me I'm famous but I'm eating three day expired bread for lunch, so..."
