Avengers: Age of Ultron Press Tour Continues to Fail as Robert Downey Jr. Makes Tasteless Joke During Interview—Watch!

What happened to the RDJ we all know and love?

The cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron is having a pretty rough start to their press tour. First, Robert Downey Jr. stormed out of an interview with a British journalist. Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner then proceeded to refer to Scarlett Johansson's character, Black Widow, as a "slut" and "whore."

To be fair, they've since apologized, but the initial joke didn't sit well with the Internet.

Now, RDJ seems to have crossed yet another line, making a remark about Oscar-winning director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu that some have taken to be racist. The Birdman director, who is Mexican, has voiced his negative opinion about superhero movies before, telling Deadline in 2014 that he considers them "cultural genocide."

"The way they apply violence to it, it's absolutely right-wing," he told the trade publication. "If you observe the mentality of most of those films, it's really about people who are rich, who have power, who will do the good, who will kill the bad. Philosophically, I just don't like them."

In an interview with The Guardian, the Iron Man star was asked what he thought about Iñárritu's comments regarding superhero films, and he answered, "Look, I respect the hell out of him, and I think for a man whose native tongue is Spanish to be able to put together a phrase like 'cultural genocide' just speaks to how bright he is."

Many are displeased with RDJ's comment, deeming it racist and offensive by implying that native Spanish speakers couldn't be as smart as native English speakers. One twitter user wrote, "Without RDJ's racism, I might never have encountered Inarritu's thoughtful, interesting statement. Thanks RDJ!"

Another tweeted, "F--k you, Robert Downey Jr. and your surprise at how Spanish-speaking people can 'put together a phrase.'"

Since beginning this press tour, the Avengers cast has experienced one hiccup after the next, and while it seemed like RDJ had moved forward from the storming-out incident earlier this week, he brought it back to life when he threw shade at Krishnan Guru-Murthy by posing with Diane Sawyer Friday morning.

"A corrective experience with legitimate journalism @kellyandmichael #dianesawyer #kellyandmichael #avengers #ageofultron #presstour #marvel #earlybirds," he captioned the pic.
