Sorry, Guys! That Wasn't Ariana Grande's Dad Who Left Big Sean That Amazing Comment on Instagram

Turns out the comment was left from a fake profile

The Internet can be a place of wonderful gems—and trickery.

Big Sean and Ariana Grande fans were dying over a comment left on one of the rapper's selfies that looked to be from the singer's father. The picture, which showed Sean posted with a Detroit fitted cap on, had a caption that read, "I give her that D... #Detroit," a lyric from his verse on the hit song "Mercy."

Under the comments, someone with the name Edward Butera (Ariana's father's name) left the comment, "that D. better be Detroit Sean."

Is that one of the most amazing comments you could ever read from a celeb dad? Yes! Is it actually a comment left by a celeb dad? No.

Ariana's publicist tells E! News that the Instagram was a fake, therefore Butera didn't actually write those things to his daughter's boyfriend.

Furthermore, the private Instagram that posted the comment uses a default pic of Grande and her dad, which is also the photo from Butera's Twitter page. While the account isn't verified (don't worry Ed, we're all trying to get that blue check mark), it seems to be legit because of a number of personal family photos that have been posted.

But it's very possible the real Edward Butera completely agrees with that epic comment.
