Bethenny Frankel is standing by her recent eyebrow-raising remarks—and defending her highly scrutinized figure.
The Bravolebrity appeared on Watch What Happens Live! last night with designer and fellow guest Isaac Mizrahi to dish on the latest episode of the Real Housewives of New York in addition to responding to some of the recent backlash that has been plaguing the reality star.
One fan called in to the clubhouse to tell Frankel "it was a bad choice of description" to refer to herself as "homeless" in the show's premiere episode (Frankel's estranged husband, Jason Hoppy, with whom she is still undergoing divorce proceedings is currently living at the pair's marital home in NYC ), saying, "as a multimillionaire you are very far from homeless."
As for the Skinnygirl mogul's response?
"I understand and by being on the show I open myself up to scrutiny," the mother of one replied. "I said I was the wealthiest homeless person. It was a pun. I don't actually think I'm homeless. I donate a lot of money to Dress For Success and help a lot of women who would be homeless or who were homeless every year with the money that I make from Skinnygirl."
Frankel continued, elaborating on the contentious situation with her ex. "The truth is—I say things—and that's why I was put on the show. If I filter and edit then you would never like me. So you can't win and you can't please everybody and I don't try to please everybody because I end up pleasing nobody," she explained. "I don't really think I'm homeless, I've got through a very difficult personal situation and not having any stability or consistency or room that's regular for my daughter. For personal reasons, I couldn't buy a place I couldn't rent a place—I can' explain why. And this is my situation and no matter how many Benjamins I have, my pain is just as real as yours."
During her sit-down with Andy Cohen, the 44-year-old star was also asked to respond to Dr. Terry Dubrow's recent remarks after E!'s Botched physician said he would like to bring Frankel on the plastic surgery show, calling her a "little skinny girl" and saying he would like to "feed her a little bit."
While Frankel initially replied to Dubrow's comments with a series of heated tweets and accused him of being "fame hungry," she apparently opted to change her tune just one day later.
"There's been a whole thing lately with skinny-shaming—Kelly Clarkson with body-shaming and then Giuliana Rancic..." she said, addressing the recent body image headlines. "I'm not gonna be like, 'Oh God, people think I'm skinny, woe is me! Why me? Why me?' I'm just not ready to get on that bandwagon."
"You know what, he didn't mean it," she continued, adding. "It's a joke. Everyone is very, very sensitive and I think that people who are overweight have a reason to be sensitive about it. It's more sensitive. I'm not gonna complain. I am thin, I have a brand called Skinnygirl, and it's OK."
