The Slayer is coming to Star Wars! Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the cast of Star Wars Rebels for season two, E! News has learned.

Dave Filoni, executive producer and supervising director of the Disney XD series made the announcement at Lucasfilm's San Francisco headquarters during a Disney Media Sales and Marketing presentation. Gellar will recur in the second season. Her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., is already part of the cast.

"We're thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two," Filoni said. "She is a true Star Wars Rebels fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions."

Star Wars Rebels also features the voices of Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and Selma's David Oyelowo.

The animated series, which has reached more than 49 million viewers during its time on air, is set between the events of Star Wars' third and fourth episodes (that's is, after the prequels and before the original film). The action centers on the motley crew of the space ship Ghost. The second season of Star Wars Rebels will feature Star Wars favorites Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano.

Gellar and Prinze previously appeared together in the Scooby Doo movies and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star has also leant her voice to The Simpsons, Robot Chicken, American Dad and King of the Hill. She recently starred in CBS's The Crazy Ones opposite Robin Williams. Her other credits include All My Children, Ringer, The Grudge and Scream 2.
