Madonna took a tumble, Kim Kardashian took an onstage selfie and Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran all took home statuettes at the 2015 Brit Awards in London on Wednesday.

The show, which honors the best in British music, was hosted by comedy duo Ant & Dec and aired live on the U.K.'s ITV channel and on YouTube.

Check out 5 breakout moments from the ceremony.

1. Ouch!

Madonna took a serious tumble while performing her new pop song "Living for Love." She lost her balance and fell backwards down a short flight of steps while her dancers attempted to remove her dark cape and recovered after several seconds to finish the performance.

2. Stage selfie

Wearing a daring black outfit, Kardashian took a selfie on stage with Ant & Dec while onstage. She presented the Global Success Brit Award to "the one and only Sam Smith."

3. Sam Smith takes the stage...and where are his Grammys?!

During the show, Smith, known for his ballad "Stay With Me," won two awards and also gave yet another haunting, moving performance, this time of his debut single, "Lay Me Down." He also revealed that he has not yet received the four Grammys he won earlier this month.

"It takes like a month to send them, which is annoying," he said.

4. Dancing in the audience

Kardashian had also appeared on stage to introduce her husband, Kanye West, who performed his new song "All Day." His performance, which contained explicit language, was completely uncensored during the livestream, but censored during the televised program. While he performed, his wife and Swift were spotted dancing next to each other in the front row of the audience.

Kardashian also danced with her hubby while watching the show.

5. Swift's performance...and her first Brit

Swift let her hair down (literally) to perform her 2014 pop hit "Blank Space," also swapping out her sexy, red and black gown for a black blazer and shorts.

She also won her first Brit Award at the event, for International Female Solo Artist, beating BeyoncéLana Del Rey, Sia and St. Vincent.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss took the stage to help present the Brit Award for British Video to One Direction, who were unable to attend as they are in Japan during a tour. Simon Cowell, whose show The X Factor had put together the boy band. The singers tweeted their thanks.

While on stage, Kloss gave a shout-out to her bestie, Swift.

"I want to congratulate my best friend Taylor on her award tonight," she said on stage. "The one minute I'm not with her, she wins an award."

And speaking of selfies, Swift got an epic one in at the event as well.
