You can add Gina Rodriguez to the list of actresses wanting to show off their super skills on the big screen.

"I would love to be a superhero—that's all I want to do is play a superhero," the Jane the Virgin star tells me. "And let's be real, I could kick some ass. We all know I could kick some ass."

As you may recall, Jennifer Lopez told me earlier this year she's up for some superhero screen time, too.

"That would be awesome," she said while promoting her thriller The Boy Next Door. "I don't know why somebody hasn't thought about that yet."

In October, Marvel announced that female superhero Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers would be getting her own movie in 2018. Casting has yet to be announced.

In a not-so-scientific poll of E! Online readers at the time, AnnaSophia Robb appeared to be the favorite to play Captain Marvel with Vampire Diaries star Candice Accola coming in a close second. Rounding out the top five were Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Dormer and Amber Heard.

Superhero or not, Rodriguez said more doors have opened for her in the last two months since snagging the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.

"The opportunities become more abundant. People have been so wonderful," she said. "The opportunities for Jane the Virgin have become more abundant. We're now in 32 different markets in over 28 countries. People are picking up on the show who didn't know about it before. It's very exciting."
