Days of Our Lives' Freddie Smith has had his day in court.

The soap star was sentenced to two years of probation earlier this week, and had his drivers' license suspended for one year after pleading guilty to charges following a car accident that left his girlfriend, Alyssa Tabit, seriously injured last October.

The 26-year-old lost control of his vehicle in Ashtabula County in northeast Ohio and this past December he pleaded guilty to felony vehicular assault and misdemeanor for driving under the influence.

After the scary ordeal, Tabit was hospitalized and in "critically stable" condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.

Her rep released the following statement to E! News at the time: "Alyssa has been joined by her family. We ask that you respect Alyssa and her family's privacy during this time."

In addition to probation and his drivers' license suspension, Smith has been ordered to pay almost $1,400 in fines, attend a drivers' intervention program and speak at every single Ashtabula County high school about the dangers of drinking under the influence.

According to a local newspaper, The Star-Beacon, Smith apologized profusely in court for his actions.

Right after the crash, Days co-star Molly Burnett shared some insight into her communication with Smith and Tabit on Facebook.

"He and Alyssa are OKAY. They were in a serious car accident last night, but were able to receive medical help IMMEDIATELY," she wrote on Facebook.

Burnett also told followers that both of their families were heading to the hospitals and they were "in the best hands."
