Well, British Academy of Film and Television Arts, explain yourselves.

The 2015 BAFTA Film Awards seemingly went off without a hitch on Sunday evening in London, but Twitter was in a snit following the in memoriam segment after the montage concluded without mention of Bob Hoskins, who died last April at 71 from pneumonia after a battle with Parkinson's disease.

"Bad form #BAFTA #bobhoskins," the actor's daughter Rosa Hoskins tweeted, per the U.K.'s Telegraph. Actor Paddy Considine, who was in the British film A Room for Romeo Brass with Hoskins, tweeted, "Dear @BAFTA leaving out Bob Hoskins was a glaring error, and a complete travesty."

Writer-comedian David Baddiel added, "The omission of Bob Hoskins in the BAFTA remembrance montage seems symbolic of the erasure in modern times of the working-class actor."

"Enjoyed the BAFTAs, albeit often for the wrong reasons. But Bob Hoskins snub was outrageous," Piers Morgan noted as well.

As the slams piled up, BAFTA explained in a statement released today that they most certainly did not forget about the star of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mrs. Henderson Presents, Mermaids and many more.

Touchtone

"Due to the timing of his death in April last year and the fact that his credits included television as well as film [he was BAFAT-nominated for Pennies from Heaven in 1979], Bob Hoskins was included in the televised obituaries package at the British Academy Television Awards last year," the Academy stated. "BAFTA features individuals in televised obituaries only once, sadly due to the number of people we'd like to recognise at any one time, and that means difficult decisions have to be made as to which ceremony they should be included in.

"As Bob died in April last year, just before the television awards, we felt it was right to remember his wonderful career then, rather than wait until last night's film awards. Bob's name was featured in the In Memoriam section of the souvenir brochures given to everyone on the nights of the Television and Film Awards and his career is recognised in our online obituaries area."

So does that mean the Oscars don't need to include Robin Williams in the in memoriam tribute in a couple of weeks because the star of the big and small screen was already honored at the Emmys, SAG Awards  and Grammys? Just sayin'...

Sure enough, that explanation didn't exactly right the wrong for some. As Ray Donovan star Eddie Marsan pointed out via Twitter: "Bob Hoskins had an exceptional award winning career in TV & Film. IMO @BAFTA should've remembered him in both ceremonies."

And for those wondering where Rik Mayall was in the 2015 BAFTAs' in memoriam segment: His obit is online as well.
