Inhumans are coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

Luke Mitchell, of the CW's dearly departed The Tomorrow People, has reportedly been cast as the "charismatic Inhuman Lincoln," per Deadline's character description, which further confirms the theory that comic book fans have been excited about ever since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s epic winter finale, in which Skye (Chloe Bennet) appeared to be transforming into something not quite so human.

In the Marvel universe, the Inhumans are a race of superhumans that were created by Kree aliens experimenting on primitive humans. Marvel already has an Inhumans movie planned for 2018, so it makes sense that the show could give us a little preview of what's to come.

Executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon have already confirmed to multiple sources that Skye (or rather, Daisy Johnson, as she's actually called) is indeed one of them, and apparently Mitchell's character will have an important role in helping Skye understand her transformation and what it means for her.

Mitchell confirmed the news on Twitter earlier tonight, saying "Looks like it's officially official... I'm #Inhuman! #AgentsofSHIELD #Marvel

Aside from his starring role as John Young on The Tomorrow People, Mitchell is also known for appearing on the beloved Australian mermaid series, H20: Just Add Water.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, March 3, at 9 p.m. on ABC.
