Hey, don't Oscar winners want to avoid VPL, too? And could any fabric be more unforgiving than satin?

Cate Blanchett apparently wanted nothing to get in the way of her comfort at the 2015 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Awards Thursday night in Sydney, hence the nightgown-esque, full-length pink and black Alexander McQueen gown with kimono sleeves.

And although the overall look was a rare misfire for the usual red carpet standout, Blanchett ensured that she at last wouldn't have any unfortunate underwear issues due to that thin material by going commando.

Posing on the red carpet, the Blue Jasmine star—who still glowed with the light of a thousand suns as far as hair and makeup went—admitted she was "not wearing any knickers tonight."

Other big names at the AACTAs included Rose Byrne and boyfriend Bobby Cannavale, Mia Wasikowska and Geoffrey Rush.
