Grease is the word...especially with this cast!

Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough have just joined the cast of Fox's live staging of the hit 1978 feature adaptation of the 1971 original musical. So who are they playing?

The Dancing With the Stars judge is set to take on the role of Sandy, famously played by Olivia Newton-John in the film, while Hudgens, most recently seen in Spring Breakers, will play Rizzo, the iconic bad girl (played by Stockard Channing).

Even more excited than we are by this casting? The ladies!

CLICK: Empire has been renewed!

"Grease is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy," Hough, who starred in Safe Haven and Rock of Ages, said. "My siblings and I watched it and played it out over and over when we were kids. This is my dream role and performing it live on television will be one of the most thrilling opportunities I've had in my career so far."

Hudgens, who is set to make her Broadway debut in Gigi, added, "Being Rizzo is something I've never imagined, and I love that because it will be a new challenge. She is such an iconic character that continues to transcend generations. I cannot wait to bring her to life on live television. I'm going to be a Pink Lady!"

Not to brag, but we totally predicted Hough would land the role when Fox first announced their plans to bring Grease to the small screen last April.

The role of Danny Zuko (John Travolta) has yet to be cast, but can we humbly suggest Hudgens' ex-BF and High School Musical co-star Zac Efron?!

And when we spoke to Efron, he was open to taking on the iconic role: That's an honor. Those are big shoes to fill. I think I came as close to it as you could in High School Musical," he said. "To actually do that? Yeah, those are big shoes."

So when will Grease: Live air? Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, but hey, at least with this cast, you know it will be worth the wait!

"Grease is one of the most treasured and favored pop culture phenomenons of our time," executive producer Marc Platt said in a statement. "It's fun, it's endearing and we are so excited to reimagine this iconic story with a shared entertainment event suited for today's audience."
