Just look for yourself: Amal took to the red carpet in a black Dior Haute Couture gown, Harry Winston drop earrings and statement-making white gloves. (The statement being you can be classic and sexy and still covered-up.) We're all for the ladylike choice, which we might even call retro considering the civil rights lawyer's loose pinned waves and Old Hollywood beauty look (crimson lips and dark, full lashes).
Mrs. Clooney also carried a white box clutch that, as she explained to Live From the Red Carpet host Giuliana Rancic, was "customized in solidarity with the French people, who have gone through a terrible week."
When asked about her choice of handwear, Amal said simply: "The gloves are just my own." (We think Amal is being modest, considering this may essentially be the revival of long gloves on the red carpet!)
Amal's first Golden Globe appearance also marks a landmark moment for husband: George will accept the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his career achievements.
Well, full marks to the happy couple for making their first major red carpet appearance as husband and wife classic, thoughtful and undeniably chic.
